Meropi Ververi

Meropi Ververi is the Greek designer and weaver behind the products of the company. Art entered her life as a legacy from her grandmother. She studied interior architecture in Thessaloniki and, after many years of professional experience in the field, she shifted her career path to follow the artistic tradition passed down to her—weaving. Respecting tradition, she incorporates raw materials in many of her works, such as sheep wool from endangered Greek breeds, as well as various organic materials like silk, linen, and cotton.
The products of the company reflect her entire professional journey, blending contemporary design with traditional methods. Each item is crafted on a manually operated wooden loom of Greek construction. The company's mission is to revive the art of weaving and promote a more environmentally friendly approach to clothing production—both through the selection of sustainable materials and the weaving process itself. All products are handmade in Greece.

The company collaborates with other brands and design studios to integrate weaving into a broad range of interior decor projects, and it also participates in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad with woven artworks.

PENELOPE has been awarded the Green Brand Award (Cold Category) for its ecological contribution to the fashion industry.
Meropi Ververi is also a faculty member at the University of Western Macedonia, where she teaches Carpet Weaving and Textile Art.

The technique of weaving and crafting by the designer is a combination of traditional methods with a modern perspective on fabric, creating original designs for products. Both in the choice of materials and in the techniques used, tradition remains alive in the weaving process of each product.

The Loom Heritage

The Greek heritage of weaving art is preserved throughout the entire process by which the thread is placed on the loom and then the fabric is created. The process is called "diasimo" or "idiasma," and it is the traditional way in which the loom is dressed with the warp.

Slowmade Process

The process of producing the yarn is made on the traditional Greek way of spinning the wool. Our goal is to support a friendly to the environment production of yarn and textile.
